Astor von Nordseestrand

Photo (Sue Vasick collection) From Borzoi Past:

An advertisement in the 1920’s from Harold Wilson’s Romanoff kennel in California featuring German import Astor V Nordseestrand. Astor was a mahogany and white dog bred in Germany by Mrs. Ida Reents. He was royally bred, sired by the dominant black stud Bessberk’s Ajax out of Ina van Wallhall, who traced back to old German and Russian bloodlines. Astor sired a couple litters out of Lebdiska Milka, with his most important daughter being Manka Obliska, dam of Neva Jskra, who was the dam of Honey Baby of Neva Jskra [Malora]. Astor can still be found behind select bloodlines via Neva Jskra, branching into many important American lines through Malora breeding.
