charodei

Charodei (Vassiltchikoff)

Also named Tcharodyei Wassiltchikoff. Drawing by Martynow.

One of the most influential borzoi of all times.

From The Perchino Hunt, Dmitri Walzoff.

"The Grand Duke, following the instinct of a hunter, did not hesitate to purchase the white an red marked sire "Tcharodyei" from Prince Wasslitchikoff for the substantial sum of 2000 roubles. This dog was not a specially good runner, but was very keen, had a short strongly arched back, was big, lean, pure-bred and elegant in build. His small, fine, close lying ears were very good, so the Grand Duke said, jokingly, I have paid a thousand roubles for each ear"
