Boris of Wieckert Farms

Boris of Wieckert Farm

from Borzoi Past group, Sue E.A. Vasick:  <<Though fairly short-lived and small by many standards, the Wieckert Farms kennel of Walter and Anita Wieckert had a huge influence on the breed through one dog in particular. This dog was Boris of Wieckert Farms, a wonderful, strong bodied white and gold sable male born January 18, 1939. He was of USA bloodlines laced with some Canadian Romanoff through his dam, Czarine O'Woronzov, who was linebred on Janet Paterson’s Romanoff Lasky [even here, Lasky was half American]. Boris’ sire was Boi-Woronzova O'Valley Farm, a son of Boi O’Valley Farm. Boris was the sire of two litters for Wieckert Farms, the first in 1941 which produced Treena of Wieckert Farms and Laughing Boy; both of these bred on, but Treena’s son, Boris Batyi had a huge effect on the breed as he can be found behind Twin Elms lines and especially Sirhan lines through Topaze. Boris’ second litter was the next year, which created Boris Ivan of Tovarich, the sire of Anninka of Twin Elms. Thanks to Dr. Carla Pasteur granddaughter of Anita Wieckert, and Lois Hough of Russian Hounds, for providing this photo and others. Boris is pictured with Betty Wieckert, Anita Wieckert's daughter-in-law.>>
