Yersa III

Photo and text Andrus Kozlov:

In 1893 Mr. Eugen Block imported 18 borzois from Russia, among them was Yerza III NHSB 396 (SHSB 1087), born on March 9, 1891 in Ozerov's hunt ( Golub' Valtzoff x Golubka I Ozeroff). Yerza III is exhibited in January 1893 in Liverpool, where she takes first place. Probably because of this, in February 1893 at Cruft's show E. Block appoints for Yerza the highest price of all 18 dogs in his collection - 200 pounds. For example, the price of Ataman II was 160 pounds, and the Sokol for 70 pounds. L. Dobbelmann tried to buy Yerza, but the price was too high for him, and the dog was sold to Mr. Showalter. Subsequently, Dobbelmann managed to outbid this bitch for himself. Later Yerza was resold in Switzerland to Mr. V. Rath

Information from Margaret Davis:

Sadly the line from Yersa III did not survive. She has one known progeny in Switzerland- Orlov II born 10/6/1895 and one known progeny in the Netherlands - Lornja born 18/7/1896. The dates of the litters suggest that Yersa went to Switzerland before being obtained by L Doppelmann. Neither of her progeny bred on.
