Dark Enchantment of Kostenov – “Jesse” – was a black, tan and white colored bitch bred and owned by Byron [Skip] and Louenna Avery of Kostenov kennel in Fair Haven, Vermont. Jesse was a well built, strong-bodied bitch with a beautiful head born April 23, 1977. She was linebred to Kostenov Kean, being sired by Kostenov Horatio ex Kostenov Glynis Johns. Jesse produced two influential litters for her owners, one in 1980 when bred to Kostenov Oscar Jaffe of Tobore; from this came the powerful male, Kostenov Kerzhentsev. Her second litter was sired by Kostenov Sondheim, born in 1982; Kostenov Cavendish came from this litter and went on to produce some fine offspring.
