Andrus Kozlov wrote: “I looked in the encyclopedia for the name of A. Rousseau ( full name Alexis Joseph Rousseau) – unfortunately there is almost no data about him there. But in the 1880s, he actively argued in cynological periodicals France and England, who positioned himself as an expert on borzois. In Russia, he did not have authority among borzoi breeders and hunters, although he owned borzois and exhibited them in St. Petersburg: in 1892 – 10 and in 1893 – 12 borzois. In 1893, a Russian magazine, reporting on the sale of borzois in 1891, in particular, writes: “Mr. Rousseau bought several borzois from various hunts and, incidentally, from Prince Golitzyn, and resold some of them to England and America.” A.Rousseau bought from Russian breeders and resold only in 1891 through England to America to Paul Hacke and Charles Steadman Hanks at least fifteen dogs, which were first registered in the Kennel Gazette England. Later he sold borzois to Canada, he also sold several dogs to England, and presented 2 dogs to the Queen of England. He died in 1904 in England.”
