Treena Wieckert farms

Treena of Wieckert Farms

from Borzoi Past group, Sue E.A. Vasick:  <<Bred and owned by Walter and Anita Wieckert of Wieckert Farms kennel, Treena of Wieckert Farms did her part to secure her breeders’ spot in Borzoi history. Treena was a black bitch with white trim and tan markings born April 22, 1941 during a time when it was very difficult to maintain a kennel of such large dogs due to World War II raging, and the restrictions imposed. Therefore, the Wieckerts and others of that era who continued breeding have to be admired and thanked for what likely were sacrifices made for their dogs. Anyway, Treena was sired by the already reviewed Boris of Wieckert Farms, out of Nayada Woronzova, who was of mostly O’Valley Farms bloodlines. Three years after the war ended, Treena was bred to the popular red dog, Batyi, and on October 27, 1948 she whelped Boris Batyi of Wieckert Farms, the dog who had such a huge impact on the breed for many. Thanks to Dr. Carla Pasteur, granddaughter of Anita Wieckert, and Lois Hough of Russian Hounds, for providing this photo of Treena.>>
