Grand Duke Exports to France/Andrus Kozlov

In 1895, Grand Duke Nicholas Romanov sent two borzois to France. They were Ataman and Khan. The dogs received a special price at the Paris show in May 1895. Ataman remained in France, with a new name Moscowa ex Ataman (Laskai-Yashma Durassov) LOF 3863. Khan

Khan

was sent to England, where he was shown at Cruft in February 1896. The Cruft catalogue states that Khan was born in 1891 (Kaissak – Raskida) breeder unknown. In the 1897 catalog (new owner, Mr Fitzroy), Grand Duke Nicholas is listed as his

Kaisack

breeder. The correct answer can be found in the 1894 Moscow catalogue – Grand Duke Nicholas presented Zlodeika, born in 1891 (Kaissak Nemirovski- Raskida Sokolov) at this show. However, the breeder of this bitch was Ivan Sokolov. He owned Raskida and also Kaissak (he bought Kaissak from Nemirovski in January 1891 for 150 rubles). In early 1891, he sold Kaissack to Mr. Blees, who imported the dog to England, where the Duchess of Newcastle purchased it. Khan was later sold to Mrs. Borman.
