Sergei Sergeevich Kareev (Even spelled Kareef) was one of the most famous borzoi breeders of the 19th century. His dogs and their descendants had been successfully exhibited since the first exhibition in 1874 in Moscow until the end of the 19th century in both coursing and exhibitions. S.S.Kareev often wrote various articles in hunting magazines of the 19th century. The family had kept and hunted with borzoi since beginning off the 1800’s.

There were relatives who also bred and hunted with borzoi.
