Add a new borzoi
From the main menu, select Borzoi
Click on Borzoi
A list of already registered borzois is shown. If uncertain you can use the Search box and see if the dog you’re about to add is in the list; if not click on Add new Borzoi. When the register form opens (see left), you start by giving the name in the Full Name box (Kennel name and the dog’s name but no titles). If there’s no kennel name use just the name. When giving the kennel name, If you use an apostrophe, be sure to write it the same way for all dogs from that breeder. You must add Gender.
You can use one picture as a front for the dog you enter, try to keep size down. Make sure there’s no copyright on the picture you use. You may use a watermark on your own pictures, but please note that the watermark must not be so dominating that the picture doesn’t show clearly.
Fill in the registration number if you have access to it. In some cases where there’s no kennel name and many dogs with the same name, then the registration number can be what you need to identify the dog. You can add more than one registration number. Many dogs are imported or exported to and from other countries. If that’s the case add the other registration number(s) in the box.
If you have access to the dog's registration papers you can take a picture of it and save it to your computer. Click the Upload Registration Documents.
You have to select the Date of Birth for the dog. Use the calendar box to find the year, month and day. If you only know the year then select YYYY-01-01.
Age when died: If the dog is deceased it is very helpful if you can add how old the dog was when it died.
Cause of death: Very Important information if this can be given.
We have two Country fields. One is for Country of birth and the other for Country of standing, meaning the country where the dog lived/lives. It is a drop list and you select the country from the list, you can type the first letter and jump to what comes closest. If it doesn’t show, contact the administrator for correcting. The second field is place. It is intended to be connected to google maps.
Select a colour from the droplist. If there’s no color in the list you can use, select the one closest or leave blank, make a report and state what is missing. You will have to go back later when the right value is added and correct your presentation. If you make a wrong choice you can hold down Ctrl and point to the colour and click and the marking disappears.
Next select Marking and choose the one that fits. If missing do as with colour.
Select an attribute if needed. If missing do as above.
Sire and Dam
On the right side of the form, there are the fields for Sire, Dam, Breeder and Owner.
Type in the Sire's name and click Search. If the dog is in the database it will appear and you can select/click it. If the dog's name is not in the database you get the question, Add a new borzoi. Click it and add the information asked, click Submit and you have added a Sire for the dog you are working on. In case you have made a mistake and want to change the dog you just added you have two possibilities, you find a little Cross next to the name, click that and the name disappears. The second choice is to simply add a new dog that replaces the first one. In this case, the unwanted and perhaps misspelt dog is kept in the database and should perhaps better be deleted.
To add the Dam is the same procedure as with the sire.
The new dog(s) you add will appear under the Tool menu, in the Review unpublished list. An editor must look through the list, edit and perhaps add to the content and publish the result/Submit.
You can look for your dogs in the Studbook on the top row. There are several studbooks and pedigree databases to select from.
Breeder and owner
Type in the Breeders' name and click Search. If the person is in the database it will appear and you can select/click it. If the person's name is not in the database you get the question, Add a new breeder. Click it and add the information asked, click Submit and you have added the breeder for the dog you are working on. In case you have made a mistake and want to change the person you just added you find a little Cross next to the name, click that and the name disappears. A dog can have more than one breeder and you can continue and add more person(s).
The new person(s) you add will appear under the Tool menu in the Review unpublished list. An editor must look through the list, edit and perhaps add to the content and publish the result/Submit.
To add an owner you do just as you did when adding the breeder. A dog can have more than one owner and as for breeders, you can continue to add persons.
Description and history
In the text box, you write the presentation of the dog. You can type directly or paste a copied text. In the text, you can add more pictures by clicking the Media button on top of the box. When you select a picture either from the library or if you upload a new one (check copyrights) and add information about it in the column on the right side. A name on the picture makes it easier to find if needed another time and information in the caption box makes it clear what the picture is about and perhaps who the picture belongs to. When you have inserted the picture click on it and you have the choice to place it to the left or right with text flowing around it, you can also from the same box click the little pen and select resolution. If it's a larger picture you might want to place it centred without text around
You can make a link to an external source, open a second session of your browser, open the program where the information is, select what you want to link to, copy the URL address. Go back to your presentation, mark the word or the sentence you will link from, and select the little chain on the upper part of the textbox. A new box will appear that asks you to Add the link. Paste the URL address you copied to the box and save. The word or the sentence you choose will turn blue and you have established a clickable link.
Titles and achievements
You can give the dog a Show title from the drop-list. If it’s not in the list, either select the closest title or don’t give a title but make a report to an editor about what is missing. You or the Editor will have to go back and correct the article when it has been updated. If the dog has more than one title, you can hold down CTRL and click on the next title(s). When presented they appear on the same line. To remove a title hold down CTRL and click on the title you want to remove.
Give the dog a Field title (titles) In the same way as with the Show title if applicable.
Continue to describe the dog's eventual other achievements.
If you have a Personal Collection you will refer to, select it. If you don't have one but intend to write more articles then, if you are an Editor you can register a new Personal collection. If you are not an Editor yourself, send a note to one and tell them that you want them to register a Personal collection in your name.
If you have used information from an official source you can select it and add it. If your source is not in the database, make an Editor aware and ask for it to be registered in your name.
Your name will always be shown as the Author of an article or a report.
The next thing you do is to click the Submit button at the bottom.
The article is now placed in the Review unpublished list in the Tools menu. You can go back and Edit your own article.
Your work is now ready for an Editor to review and publish.
The President of the Borzoi Encyclopedia association and the editor(s) are legally responsible for the information
published. To avoid liability the editor(s) must review each presentation before being published.
