This is one of the earliest paintings to depict a borzoi. The artist Karl Kaspar Pitz (1756-1795), the painting entitled “Ein Türkischen Windhund welcher einen Hasen gefangen”. Undoubtedly in the picture there is a Russian borzoi. The fact that the borzoi at that time until the end of the 19th century in Europe called differently is already known to everyone. The painting was owned by Duke Carl von Zweibrücken and sold in 1797. The duke had several paintings by the artist, including his own portrait.
