Borzoi History

Testimony Jo Heller

In Memory Of Jo Heller, Vorenoff Borzoi Kennel. Jo Heller died on April 27, 2007 at 6:15. It is not easy to quantify her actions in favor of our breed. She was an extraordinary person and I was fortunate to be a part of her family. I can say that she was a woman of character, like any talented person. Several members dressed up in historic costumes to honor the aristocratic themed festivities. We had the opportunity to have coffee and a snack with our three Borzoi in the magnificent Red reception [...]

Trotting gait in borzoi

The dog in the pictures, Argos (Sokoloff) born I Russia in 1886, sold to America and renamed Argoss. He comes from a litter that has influenced the borzoi breed ever since. He looks like a very strongly built dog, slightly longer than high. Broad in front but even broader in hindquarters. Are the proportions of this dog desirable? The litter, where he was one of a number of known descendants is to day behind all living borzoi. The breeders in Russia, including Perchino and those in Europe and America must all have thought so. We can assume that it was the breed characteristics that was [...]
