How to create a historic article

Borzoi history

The Borzoi Encyclopedia is about the history of the breed from the earliest time onward.

Before writing an article make a search to be sure that your article is not already done.

We advise that you do some preparation. It’s best to make a plan, what is the story about, which dogs, people, etc. See if dogs/people/places you intend to mention have been registered and that there are access to external and internal sites to link to

A borzoi history can be a “report” from an Event of significance to the breed. The Event can be a show – many of the dogs can be shown or linked to – or it can also be an important meeting, like when the first standard was written with a presentation of the people involved, it can also be a story about a kennel, dogs and the people or it can be about a dog that has had a great influence on the breed or was especially interesting in some way. A story can be about things that matter to the borzoi history!

It should be possible to follow the breed through the history decade for decade and even year by year when there’s information available; that is why it is important to fill in the field ‘Year of Event’ or just Year.

When you have searched the source material you need, collected and edited pictures and checked the links you intend to use, including video films, you are ready to write your article!

History is built of memories of all the separate things that happened to the Borzoi over the years. As Authors you have your own experiences, you have read the stories and you may have seen the dogs in your story. From these memories, you write your stories, add your pictures, make links to external sources and save your work.

To write a story demands a certain amount of work; research and gathering of material, control of dates and names. You will not be alone writing stories; therefore, it’s wise to search Borzoi history to see what’s been written on the subject before. Finally, there’s an Editor to help you review and check your material before it is published.

The procedure looks like this in short:

1. Go through your sources, collect material, text and pictures you need. If needed, work with your pictures, check eventual copyrights and adapt to size and quality. When ready click on Articles. A list will appear with all articles. You can search to see if anything on your subject has been Published earlier. If there’s nothing there you proceed by clicking Add New Article and the form, Create article will appear!

2. Give the article a name

3. Write or copy the text into the text box,

4. To add pictures, mark the place in the text where you want to place a picture, click the Media button. You can use a picture already in the Library or you can Upload a new picture. If you upload a new picture you can on the right side of the screen give it a name and you can fill in the caption (text shown under your picture). In the lower right corner you can click Insert and the picture will appear on the place in the text where you had placed the cursor. The next thing you do is to decide if the picture shall stand alone or if you want the text to float around either on the left or on the right. Click on the picture and choose an option. Now you can continue to next place in your text and repeat the procedure.

If you want to have a link to an external source in your text you must decide where in the text, make a link to the external post (perhaps open one more edition of your browser), click the little chain symbol in the textbox and insert the link. The external post can be an article in Wikipedia or any other text but also a film from Youtube or anything else as long as it’s related to borzoi.

If you have mentioned dogs or people in your text that is in the database you can add them using the Add borzoi and Add people. It is possible to add more than one.

You should select a category for your post, You can select more than one

If you have used information from an official source you can select it and add it.

If you have a Personal Collection  you will refer to, select it. If you don’t have one but intend to write more articles then, if you are an Editor you can register a new Personal collection from the Tools menu. If you are not an Editor yourself, send a note to ne of the editors and tell that you want them to register a Personal collection in your name.

The next thing you do is to click the Submit button at the bottom.

The article is now placed in the Review unpublished list in the Tools menu. You can go back and Edit you own article but you can not Publish.
