Nicolai Ivanovitch Lieberich

The creative oeuvre of the eminent Russian sculptor animalist Nicolai Lieberich (1828-1883) presents itself the significant epoch in the history of Russian bronze plastic arts. The exhibition presents about 80 works. The greatest part of them belongs to the Moscow collector Alexei Egorov. He had gathered the largest collection of sculptures by N.Liberih who was the academic of the Emperor’s Academy of Arts. Among these works are Standard-Bearer of Preobrazhensky Life Guards Regiment (Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal, St.Petersburg), sculptural composition for a gold medal awarded to Emperor Alexander II at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1867 (St Petersburg State Agrarian University), and Sculptural composition presented to Alexander II on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his enlistment in the Horse Guards (Russian Museum). Several works that had not been presented earlier were not presented to the viewers, are given by St. Petersburg museums. There are also presented the drawings by Nicolai Lieberich (mostly the sketches for so-called army gifts) from the collection of collector Konstantin Zhuromsky (Moscow).
