Evgheny Tikhmenev

Was a graphic artist and painter of animals. Born in Sumy, Ukraine, from 1891 to 1894 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under B. Villevalde. From 1891 he became interested in shooting and hunting with dogs, which later became the main theme of his many paintings and graphic works. From 1900 to 1915, he exhibited his works in St. Petersburg and Moscow. He was engaged in the design of children’s books. Reproductions of his works were regularly published in the magazines Niva, Rodina, Iskra. From 1928 he lived in Orenburg, paintings on military themes. He participated in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts (1930, 1932). In 1936, his works were shown at the exhibition of Kazakh art in Moscow. His art is presented in the museums of Irkutsk, Orenburg and many private collections.
